Having an American mother and a Sardinian father, Francisco grew up speaking two languages and appreciating two different cultures from a young age.
His mom windsurfed up to her 9th month of pregnancy with Francisco. Water and waves were already in his blood. Francisco grew up in beautiful southern Sardinia where he became a promising soccer player and top scorer for the Cagliari Calcio junior team.
But his love for water grew stronger. In 2000, together with his brother Niccolo’, he convinced his parents to move to Maui in order to become a professional wave rider. That year, at the age of 14, he entered successfully the Aloha Classic and since then has been the best Italian wave representative in the PWA World Tour and other Wave events around the world.
He also writes travel stories for magazines in places like Indonesia, South Africa, Fiji, Tahiti, Baja Mexico, which undoubtedly embody his explosive personality. Francisco’s popularity has rapidly grown especially after his recent performances at “Jaws” Maui and in Tahiti, where his image has been captured riding 40 foot waves or inside the powerful barrel of Teahupoo.
